Tesamorelin is a synthetic form of a naturally occurring hormone that assists the body to stimulate the release of growth hormone (GH). It received FDA approval in 2010. It was primarily used to reduce excess abdominal fat in patients with HIV who have lipodystrophy, a common condition where fat is distributed unevenly in the body, especially around the organs.
